Hand Luggage Essentials for Clubbing Holidays

So you’re super excited about your stint in the sun, and the last thing you’re likely to be thinking about are the practicalities like what to pack in your hand luggage. However, be warned, you fail to prepare and you prepare to fail (like the boy scout thing) – and no-one wants a #fail to feature anywhere in their summer clubbing holidays.

Listen to your mum when she asks you for the tenth time whether you’ve ‘got everything’ for your 2013 clubbing holidays, and by everything, she means this little lot:

Passport and Documents

These are important. Repeat after me – ‘Must not forget my passport. Must not forget my passport.’ It also helps to check that your passport is in date, well in advance of your holiday (just in case!).
You’ll also need your travel documents, insurance documents and itinerary (if you have one – maybe your plan doesn’t go further than land, find nearest beach, grab nearest drink!).

First Aid

Be careful with this one, as not everything will be allowed to fly with you. However it’s a good idea to at least take a pack of paracetamol and maybe an eye mask in case of a headache at 40,000 feet. Pack a travel sized sunscreen (in case your case goes walkabout) and a couple of condoms (but don’t be tempted to use those en route, a membership to the mile high club is not recommended!). Oh, and a pair of warm socks – it can get cold up there!

Phone and Charger

If your phone is your lifeline then don’t make the rookie mistake of packing your charger in your case. Have it to hand in your carryon, in case you need a crafty charge at the airport (hint, look in the airport pub for spare wall plugs you can use on the sly). And don’t forget a plug adaptor to use on arrival at your destination.

Once you’ve sorted the essentials, throw in a spare pair of pants, swimwear and maybe one easy to fold up clubbing outfit (once again, in case of the wandering suitcase) and rest easy on your flight in the knowledge that you have everything you need to start your clubbing holiday to hand.

Low-Cost Summer Getaways

If you're looking for a fabulous getaway this summer that won't break the bank, there are scores of scintillating destinations out there to consider - and more than a few ways to keep the costs down too.

Turkey is a traditionally affordable holiday destination with a relatively low cost of living, which is ideal if you're planning to rent an apartment and keep things simple. You can pick up some wonderful ingredients in the local markets and whip up a storm in your apartment kitchen, or enjoy delicious, zingy Turkish cuisine in a local restaurant. It helps to reduce the cost of living and means you've got more money to spend on other things - like day trips and seeing the sights.

If you're looking for cheap Turkey holidays, you'll find a fantastic array of low-cost getaways by searching for late deals. The best way to do this is to search for holidays departing within the next few weeks, and you'll often find that prices have been slashed to try and tempt in those last few customers. It doesn't work with every holiday, as it's all down to the tour operator's priorities and not every package will be reduced - but you'll often find some great deals that are too good to miss.

If you fancy trying somewhere else, like Greece or the Algarve, you can snap up a bargain by booking late. Or if you're not such a spontaneous person, you can usually grab a good deal by booking well in advance. When you book early and secure your holiday for next year, you will often be privy to some great early bird deals from tour operators, meaning you can snap up all manners of different discounts from low cost Algarve holidays to affordable Greek getaways, which all helps to make things that little bit easier.

Skiing in Bulgaria: Top Resorts to Book

While the ski industry continues to flourish in the likes of France, Italy and Switzerland, the concept of going further into Europe for a skiing holiday may leave some people a little bewildered. As a skier who is used to the resorts they book, it may be strange to consider somewhere other than what you’re used to as a resort for one of your future luxury ski holidays.

The problem is that the potential of the budget-friendly resorts that Bulgaria ski holidays offer will never be fully understood if more people don’t take the plunge and sample this eastern European luxury. This fabulous country rarely even finds its way onto the skiing map if not through someone who has experienced it, but it’s about time this changed.

The resorts that Bulgaria offers are slowly on the up over recent years, building their popularity with British skiers who may fancy something a little different for their next ski holiday. The less crowded slopes, value for money and quieter resorts are certainly appealing factors, after all.

If you’re interested in skiing in Bulgaria, read on to find out more about two of its fantastic resorts that you could choose from. Be sure that, wherever you decide on, you take a look into the English-speaking ski schools available to help you improve your confidence on the slopes.

Borovets

A fun resort that is ideal to learn the art of skiing, Borovets is set amid the forests of the Rila Mountains and provides some outstanding value ski packages without scrimping on quality.

Bansko

The largest ski area in the country, Bansko is a popular resort with all the mod-cons, including a top of the range lift system that will help you to reach the peaks.

As a fledgling competitor when it comes to British skiing resorts, Bulgaria can only become more popular in the future. If the rustic charm appeals, book your Bulgaria ski break, today.

Explore the World on a Cruise Holiday

Everyone's got a list of places and sights they want to experience. Perhaps yours is the Caribbean - where you can find out the true meaning of 'barefoot paradise' and sink your toes into silky soft sands and hear the waves lapping onto a gently shelving bay. Maybe Florence is top of your must-see list, along with the regal statue of Michelangelo's masterpiece, David. Or perhaps you want to mix it up and see a little bit of everything on your next holiday? In which case, a cruise holiday could be right up your street.

Cruise holidays can take in a whole range of different destinations, from bucket-and-spade beach resorts to chic cities and famous architectural sights. There are plenty of ways to get there too. You can go direct to the cruise company itself - such as Royal Caribbean International, NCL or Thomson Cruise - or you can book through a travel operator such as Thomas Cook Cruises.

One of the great things about booking through an agent such as Thomas Cook is that you get a full spectrum of choice, and you're not just limited to specific brands. Choose from Princess Cruises, Cunard, Celebrity, Island Cruises, NCL, Carnival... and plenty more. This means you can browse a huge range of holidays and pick the one that best suits your holiday wish-list, as well as your dates and budget. Of course, with more choice and flexibility comes better affordability too.

Let's say you're after a luxury cruise but your budget is limited. A quick search via Thomas Cook shows plenty of cut-price options leaving within the next few weeks, as well as further in advance - complete with early bird discounts. Take P&O for instance. You'll find some of the best P&O cruises on offer with cruise holidays ranging from 2 nights to 23 nights, spanning a tantalising range of destinations including the Caribbean, Europe, the Canary Islands, Northern Africa and more.

Special offers are regularly advertised and you can shave a significant amount off the cost of you cruise holiday by staying vigilant to these deals. It's a great way to see the world without paying the earth for it.
