30 March 2011, Kuala Lumpur – InterContinental, a world famous name has finally arrived in Malaysia.

Managed by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), InterContinental Kuala Lumpur made it debut in Kuala Lumpur on 1st February 2011. InterContinental Kuala Lumpur will soon undergo an 18-month refurbishment for the rooms, restaurants and hotel’s facilities. The present Japanese restaurant Tatsu will be closed for renovations in April this year and will be completed in June. Originating from the word Tatsu-jin, which means master or expert, Tatsu will be ready to take on the challenge of being one of the most premier Japanese restaurants in Malaysia.

Bringing a sophisticated element to the traditional dining experience, Tatsu combines a subtle blend of Japanese aesthetics with contemporary yet minimalist design. The emphasis of royal blue reflects the diverse Oriental Japanese influences combined with layer of Shoji inspired screens with rich hues and soft light provides an intimate yet elegant and tranquil dining ambience. The design is further enhanced with the unique concept of having sake bottles and cups as wall decorative.

With a seating capacity of 147 seats, Tatsu will boast five choices of dining styles form the Sushi Bar, a Teppanyaki Room, private rooms, public dining area to a cozy lounge. For those who appreciate the finer things in life, there is a private Sake Bar encompassed by intricately designed glass windows offering a breathtaking view of lush garden landscape and cascading waterfall. Offering the freshest of seafood, Tatsu Sushi Bar will tempt the most discerning connoisseurs as the fresh seafood is flown in twice a week from the land of the Rising SunEach guestroom is furnished with contemporary fittings and amenities of international standard such as plush bedding, flat screen television and high-speed broadband internet.

Located on the 26thfloor is the Club InterContinental which offers a spacious stylish lounge with a breathtaking view of the city skyline. Daily breakfast, Afternoon Tea, refreshments throughout the day, complimentary high speed wireless broadband Internet access and personalized business services are just a few of the many facilities offered at Club InterContinental. Guests staying at the Club Floors are experiencing a unique ‘In The Know’ concept at the InterContinental Club Lounge. The ordinary buffet breakfast is no longer served. Instead breakfast is served with a wide selection of cold buffet items, fresh juices and a wide selection of pastries. Guests can then order the hot items, a la carte style. They can be a variety of western egg dishes or signature Malaysian dishes such as Dim Sum, Nasi Lemak and Roti Canai.

High Tea was previously served buffet style but guests can now look forward to the daily High -Tea from 3.00pm to 5.00pm which is presented in a traditional 3-tier tea-stand consisting of western items like Smoked Salmon, Cucumber Sandwiches, Scones with Cream and Jam but local delights such as Malay Kuih, Kaya Toast and Curry Puffs complemented by a wide selection of Rohnefeld teas or freshly brewed coffees.

Another interesting concept is the Twilight Snacks from 6.00pm to 8.00pm in the evening comprising of the hotel’s restaurant signature dishes like Peking Duck Roll from Toh Lee Chinese restaurant or popular sushi from Tatsu Japanese restaurant. In addition, ‘In the Know’ items like Satay and Spring Rolls from Serena Brasserie are also served. All the twilight dishes are freshly prepared on the spot for our club floor guests and directly brought to the tables. InterContinental Kuala Lumpur offers a choice of venues for your wedding receptions, business functions, conferences or meetings, each complete with the latest state-of-the-art video/audio equipment.  From our pillarless Grand Ballroom which accommodates 1,300 guests and our Junior Ballroom catering up to 230 guests, to 8 smaller function rooms accommodating 30 to 70 people, we have the perfect venue and support to make every event a success.

This long waited international brand has finally made its way into Malaysia. The hotel has recently appointed a new General Manager, Adam McDonald, formerly from InterContinental Bali.
